As Unaccompanied Children Flee Central America, COFOA Leaders Meet with Minister of Public Safety as They Tackle Issue of Violence

Violence, intimidation and extortion are not only causing migration to the United States, it is also destroying community, hope and opportunity for many families in El Salvador. COFOA leaders have boldly launched a campaign to find some solutions, engaging 15 congregations across La Paz by listening to the pain of hundreds of ordinary people and lifting ideas for solution. In June leaders presented their findings to Benito Lara, newly appointed National Minister of Justice and Safety. Opportunities for employment, education and entrepreneurship are priorities, along with need to reduce violence and extortion.
