Farmers from Usultan unite to fix more roads
Convened by Fr. Antonio Lopez, the Anglican Pastor of Christ the King Parish in Usulutan Department, representatives from five new communities came together with COFOA leaders from El Carmen and El Numero to discuss the issues that face them as farmers. Their top priority was to fix roads that are unusable by cars or trucks during the rainy season. These roads are essential to sell livestock and crops, buy goods and services, and access schools and doctors. After hearing the success of COFOA efforts to fix some roads and get construction of the bridge over Rio Roldan underway, the 40 leaders who gathered agreed to a strategy to reach out to all their communities and build a united front to press the government for resources needed for repairs. New communities joining the effort in with El Numero and El Carmen in Usulutan are: Los Cálix, Las Mesitas, La Canoíta, Los Lotes Canoa and Babilonia.
