Lutheran Bishop Shares Perspective on PICO Rwanda
Mark Holmerud, Lutheran Bishop of the Sierra Pacific Synod, and a delegation of clergy and lay leaders, witnessed the dedication of the Rwanagana Lutheran School science building. They also visited PICO Rwanda organizing projects across the country to support the work of Pr. John. After visiting the PICO Rwanda organizing projects, Bishop Mark shared these comments:
“We visited eight ministry sites, including churches and schools, and met many dedicated people who are committed to making a difference in the lives of Rwandans throughout this country. Almost every parish we visited had, or was in the process of, building/developing a school. We were surrounded by children who greeted us and sang and danced and wanted us to know that their school was important to them and to their families.
“Along the way, we met pastors and evangelists and leaders of congregations and parishes who have or are in the process of literally building their churches, brick by brick. It is amazing to see how much is being done with precious few resources – and how generous and grateful the people of the Lutheran Church of Rwanda (LCR) are with their resources as they reach out to serve the communities where they have been planted.”
The Rwamagana Lutheran School was founded and is directed by Pr. John’s wife, Robin Strickler. They make a great team.
