Manuel Cibrian, 19, has been threatened by gang members in his village of El Angel, next to Barahona, where he lives with his father. He decided to attend COFOA leadership training and community meetings because he wants a safer place for his family. Manuel is helping in the church and is looking for opportunities to go to the seminary and become a priest. Manuel’s father is a man of a deep faith. In his words, he comes to COFOA’s leadership and community meetings because he hopes they can reduce violence, and have a better place to live. The Barahona community is meeting every Friday to make the community policing program work.
