OPODNE Leaders Make Plans for Fishing, Goat and Peanut Cooperatives
OPODNE leaders from Capotille (pictured above) are exploring how to start a peanut cooperative. They met with the head of a local peanut processing plant to research a potential partnership with farmers to grow peanuts. In addition, Haiti Director Francois Pierre Louis brokered a meeting with the head of Heifer International, who is pledging to work with the leaders of Grand Bassin to develop a goat cooperative. OPODNE leaders in Phaeton are researching ways to improve income by purchase of a boat and formation of a fishing cooperative.
