PICO INTERNATIONAL: 2016 COFOA HIGHLIGHTS – YOUTH ORGANIZING
Early in the year, Gabriel and 60 youth leaders organized their first action where 350 youth launched the “More Employment and Less Violence” campaign. After sharing stories, they turned to political leaders from the state of La Paz to sign a pledge of support. In the coming year, youth and adult leaders are partnering with government and businesses to sponsor job fairs and micro-lending workshops to secure jobs and start businesses.
“My motivation in organizing youth is to wake them up so they bring their faith into social and political life. We want to meet the challenges of an environment that is so unsafe that young people fear for their lives when they travel to our meetings.” – Gabriel, Zacetucoluca, El Salvador
