📣 TAKE ACTION: Help Save the Inter-American Foundation

Add your name to our petition to save the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), which is a lifeline for communities in Haiti and across Latin America.

Shutting down the Inter-American Foundation would be devastating for community development efforts in Latin America

When the Trump Administration first tried to shut the Inter-American Foundation, subsistence farmers in Northeast Haiti lost the support they needed to grow food to fend off rising hunger.

Haitians aren’t alone. The Inter-American Foundation has helped thousands of organizations increase local food production, create jobs for young people, and address the root causes of poverty and migration – across Latin America and the Caribbean.

A Federal Judge recently ordered the Trump Administration to re-open the Inter-American Foundation. But now the Administration is pushing Congress to eliminate its funding. That’s why your voice matters.

Addressing the root causes of poverty and migration

In 2024, our partner, the People’s Organization for the Development of Haiti (OPODHA) won a $267,500 grant from the IAF to help small farmers adapt their crops to drought and climate change so they could feed their families and neighbors. When the Administration first tried to shut down the IAF, OPODHA lost $217,500 in remaining funding to help 1,320 farmers with high-quality seeds, through a rotating seed bank, irrigation, and technical assistance from agronomists.

Helping Haitian farmers adapt to drought and climate change — with irrigation, tools, seeds, and training — means fewer families go hungry or are forced to migrate. The Inter-American Foundation only funds local organizations, not large contractors or large NGOs. It follows the lead of communities.

Please add your name to the petition and consider donating to help ODODHA continue its campaign to fight hunger in Haiti.
