Salvadoran COFOA leaders Hold Presidential Forum
On November 22, 2013, leaders of COFOA from the La Paz Dept. of El Salvador organized a first-ever Presidential Forum that attracted over 1,000 people and was attended by four candidates.
The goal was to hear the priorities of the candidates from the perspective of COFOA/PICO’s community organizing. Each of the candidates presented plans for the 2014-2019 presidential term. The forum was organized by COFOA leaders who participate in social pastoral ministry, aimed at the political education of leaders. The forum highlighted the problems specific to the La Paz Department with the intent to find solutions at the national level that will improve living conditions for residents.
Each candidate signed a commitment that after 100 days of taking the Presidential office they would meet with COFOA leaders to report progress in the priority areas of safety, unemployment and health. To view a short video of the forum, click here.
