2015 Year in Review: Casa de Salud Re-opens
In 1999, a building was constructed in Barahona to serve as a health home for that community. It went unused for the last 10 years. People took a whole day to travel for medical care. In 2015, Bishop Bolanos joined 80 community leaders to bless and celebrate the re-opening of “Casa de Salud.” A newly assigned doctor and a nurse were on hand to greet and serve the community of this isolated village. Permanent staff and medical supplies will be available in 2016. Now, 300 families have health care service in their own village.
