Important updates from the Root Causes Initiative

Friends

We’re writing to share two important updates from the Root Causes Initiative

Given the ongoing crisis unfolding in Guatemala around democracy and rule of law, we will focus our next monthly call on Thursday, April 7 at 12:30 PST/1:30 MST/2:30 CST/3:30 EST on the situation there and how our growing network can support our partners there. If you have not already done so and are able to make it, please register here to join the call.

More than 30 leading indigenous, civic and religious organizations in Guatemala sent a letter to Vice President Kamala Harris last week calling on the United States to take concrete actions to protect human rights and sanction officials and businesspeople who are dismantling the country’s justice system to protect their criminal activity. They have asked us to circulate the letter with you to ask for your organization’s endorsement of their demands. Please take a moment to add your organization’s endorsement by Wednesday, April 6.

Thank you for your continued support and participation.

In solidarity,
