PICO INTERNATIONAL: COFOA 2016 HIGHLIGHTS – GALILLEE

Fifty leaders gathered on the main street of the small village named Galillee to press public officials about land rights. At the conclusion of the war, the government settled people on property in Galillee where they have lived for the past 20 years. Unfortunately, an NGO failed to help the community get deeds recorded that assigned clear ownership. More and more people are joining actions like these in towns across La Paz. They understand that transparency and accountability are critical to partnership. As Juan Ramon says, “There can be trust only if information is provided to the entire community and not just to a specific group. The only thing that will give us peace of mind is knowledge that we really own our future.”
