Two hundred sixty nine people made donations of $195,118 at the end of last year that were matched by our friends, John and Sue Sobrato. This investment nourishes seeds of power in Central America. Thank You!
Communities of Faith Organizing for Action (COFOA) is negotiating with the Salvadoran Government for legislation to regularize the titles of 350,000 families and fund more than 900 community improvement projects worth $23 million in the most neglected communities in El Salvador. Grassroots leaders are winning new schools, electricity, water, health clinics, and paved roads worth tens of millions of dollars. COFOA is leading efforts to create an unemployment compensation system, end dangerous mining, and protect El Salvador’s fragile democracy. COFOA has begun organizing in Honduras and Guatemala. Through the Root Causes Initiative, we’re supporting efforts to promote human rights and democracy in Central America; and shift the U.S. Agency for International Development’s approach to supporting locally-led development.
