COFOA leaders secure promise for bridge over Roldan River
After 20 years of effort, leaders finally secured a commitment from the Ministry of Public Works to construct the bridge of the Roldan River. With support from Anglican Bishop David Alvarado and Anglican Pastor Fr Antonio Lopez, people from the eight communities of the lower Lempa River valley maintained pressure on elected officials until they secured a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and got his commitment to begin construction before the end of the year.
More than 100 COFOA leaders have demonstrated remarkable patience and persistence over the past three years, meeting on many occasions with the mayor and city council of San Marcos Lempa, representatives of the National Assembly, the governor of Usulutan Department, and engineers and experts from the Ministry of Public Works. Persistent exercise of power produced results in the end. Congratulations!
